Prof. Bergunder’s research interests include Pentecostal-charismatic movements, esotericism and new religious movements, and South Indian Religious History.
His publications include “The South Indian Pentecostal Movement in the 20th Century,” “Studying Global Pentecostalism. Theories and Methods” (ed., with Allan Anderson, Andrée Droogers, Cornelis van der Laan) and “Ritual, Caste, and Colonial Discourse in South India” (ed., with Heiko Frese and Ulrike Schröder). He is co-editor of “Neue Hallesche Berichte. Quellen und Studien zur Geschichte und Gegenwart Südindiens” and Review Editor of PentecoStudies.
