Prof. Eurich worked for the German Research Foundation (DFG) and the Protestant Technical College Bochum, among others, before he took over the leadership of the Diakoniewissenschaftliches Institut in March 2009. He is active in research collaborations with universities in Europe and South Africa. Since 2008 he has been chairman of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Social Science Institute of the EKD and is also a member of the board of this institute. In 2009 he was appointed to the EKD’s Chamber for Social Order, and in 2011 he received a visiting professorship in practical theology at Stellenbosch University in South Africa.

Among his publications, special mention should be made of “Diakonie in der Sozialökonomie. Studien zu Folgen der neuen Wohlfahrtspolitik” (VDWI 47), Leipzig 2013 (together with Wolfgang Maaser); “Inklusive Kirche” (Behinderung — Theologie — Kirche. Band 1), Stuttgart 2011 (editor together with Andreas Lob-Hüdepohl); “Kirchen aktiv gegen Armut und Ausgrenzung. Theologische Grundlagen und praktische Ansätze für Diakonie und Gemeinde Foundations and Practical Approaches for Diakonia and Congregation”, Stuttgart 2011 (editor together with F. Barth, K. Baumann and G. Wegner). Prof. Eurich is co-editor of the international journal “Diaconia: Journal for the Study of Christian Social Practice” as well as of the series “Veröffentlichungen des Diakoniewissenschaftlichen Instituts”, “Theologische Anstöße” and “Behinderung — Theologie — Kirche”.
