He is a member of the 15-member expert commission of the UN, chairman of the commission for the Eighth Report on the Elderly of the Federal Ministry of Family Affairs, and a member of the German Ethics Council (from 2016\u20132018 as deputy chairman). He is particularly concerned with forms of productive aging, consequences of demographic change, rehabilitation, intervention research, and palliative care.<\/p>\n<p>His publications include the \u201cEnzyklop\u00e4die der Gerontologie\u201d (ed., with M. Martin), the \u201cLehrbuch der Gerontopsychosomatik\u201d (with G. Heuft, H. Radebold), \u201cGesund altern\u201d, \u201cDas letzte Lebensjahr\u201d and \u201cWir haben uns als Deutsche gef\u00fchlt. Lebensr\u00fcckblick und Lebenssituationen j\u00fcdischer Emigranten und Lagerh\u00e4ftlinge\u201d (with E. Schmitt). He has also published numerous articles in professional journals.<\/p>\n<h3>Work Area:<\/h3>\n<p>XIII.
